When Theo Faber, Criminal Psychotherapist, takes a new job at The Grove, he is well aware of their most infamous patient, Alicia Berenson. Mrs. Doubtfire’ Fans Psyched For A Potential Documentary Featuring The Late Robin Williams’ “Special And Magical” Improv Process

A therapist ( Steve Carell) is held captive by a serial killer ( Domhnall Gleeson) who seeks help to curb his homicidal urges.

This is the type of Thriller that I really enjoy sinking my teeth into. The use of the diary entries, paired with Theo's investigations, made for a perfectly-paced reveal in my opinion! Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has always been obsessed with Alicia’s story, and when a position presents itself at The Grove for someone with his qualifications, he applies for the job and is successful. Theo is certain that he can get her to talk, even though others have tried and failed. Months later Rachel and Luc are both being detained for pending murder charges. How did this doctor and her patient end up in this terrifying situation? Ten years ago, James Owens was convicted of a murder he couldn’t remember committing. Now, finally released from the mental institution where he’s served his time, he is placed under house arrest in the sprawling family home he has inherited from his father. It’s hard to say much more without giving away everything that happens; however, I will say that the synopsis/blurb is misleading. It’s not inaccurate, just I expected something more than what ultimately unravels.

Stream It Or Skip It: 'My Christmas Hero' on GAF, Where A Military Man Helps A Doctor Find Family History and Lasting Love Theo's point of view is split into two categories... him talking about himself and his wife and him talking about Alicia and himselfIn The Patient, Palmer has hypothesized ARTIE (Assisted Robotic Tissue Incision and Extraction), a technology that will assist surgeons in the removal of previously inoperable tumors and crafted a high voltage suspense thriller set in the arena of the neurosurgery operating rooms of EMMC, Eastern Massachusetts Medical Center. When Carl Gilbride, the tyrannical head of the department overrules the decision of Jessie Copeland, his finest surgeon, and successfully uses ARTIE to save the life of a world class Olympic gymnast, a veritable firestorm of publicity results attracting the attention of other surgeons, scientists, foundations, grant-giving authorities and dying patients desperate to get in line for a life-saving operation with this new technology.

There were plenty of dramatic and over-the-top statements and or phrases that really ruined potentially significant scenes and or somber moments of contemplation: But, if I am being totally honest, the plot is not all that plausible, and at times the execution warbles. There are some problems within the story, but in my humble opinion, this is how a pure psychological thriller should be presented. The author relies on paranoia and the emotional instability of the characters to build suspense as opposed to grisly, graphic crime scenes. It’s a mind game from start to finish.

Need Help?

Rachel is a 49 year-old, perimenopausal empty-nester with a boring marriage and a stressful job at the local medical practice. When sexy architect Luc presents as a new emergency patient one evening, she is drawn to him, and helpless to stop herself falling into an affair when they meet again some months later. When she starts hearing footsteps behind her, Rachel initially blames stress and paranoia, but then a violent death has her questioning everything - could her lover be a murderer? The Patient is a contemporary domestic suspense novel set in Salisbury, England, about a middle-aged doctor who begins a relationship with a married patient, with deadly consequences. I’d read The Drowning Lesson by this author before, and had also 3-starred it, but liked the sound of this, especially since the heroine is a GP of approximately my age. It’s a well written thriller, and I did quite enjoy it, but I was put off by the universally unlikeable characters and predictable twists.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Master Gardener’ on Hulu, Another Subtly Sinister Drama From Master Storyteller Paul Schrader The Silent Patient might not be the worst novel I’ve read but it’s a badly written, poorly developed book. Worse still, The Silent Patient comes across as being both pointless and passionless I really wanted to love this story -- billed as a twisty mystery -- about the impact of a patient/client affair. But the narrative was so slowly-paced that I had to force myself to get through it, and also found the ending rather predictable. The concept, however, was intriguing and I'd like to read a revised version that nails pace and denouement. Alex Bishop is a rogue CIA agent who has been after Malloche for 5 years without success ... until now. An informant has told him about Malloche's tumor and Alex figures out that Malloche will choose EMMC for his treatment for the same reason Malloche does. Jessie and ARTIE. Of course Alex happens to fall in love with Jessie.
