Overall there are no differences between the three handhelds in terms of benchmark performance which is good to see. Android Apps The controls are something that I have some mixed feelings on. It is comfortable to play on but I did find the shoulder buttons were a little obstructed by the top half of the case. It’s not a major issue, just something you would need to get used to, a traditional handheld would not have any obstruction. However I did get Sonic Mania running and it runs very well! Don’t get too excited though, it is a fairly basic game so don’t expect many games to run like this 🙂 Final Thoughts

There is a USB Type-C charge port and a Micro HDMI port for output to your TV or monitor at 720P resolution. On first boot, you’re prompted to choose between Retroid’s proprietary game launcher that aggregates emulators in one easily accessible place; RetroidLauncher, or a basic Android 11 installation. You can freely switch between them at any time, and I primarily used the Android 11 interface for this review. Retroid hasn’t yet confirmed whether you’ll eventually be able to update to Android 12 or 13. There is also a built-in screen mapper to map the controls to Android games that do not natively support controllers! The easy-to-use screen mapper simply requires drag and drop icons to on-screen button areas to configure. You can gain the upper hand on first person shooters against those still playing on awkward on-screen controls!Up to 8 hours depending on usage. In our tests we got just over 5 hours running 3DMark benchmark on a loop. Like with past Retroid handhelds, the community maintains a spreadsheet with individual game performance. Flagship titles like Kingdom Hearts, Persona 3 and Persona 4, Devil May Cry 2 and others run perfectly without the need for tweaks or scaling down the resolution. On the plus side, thanks to the screen size and performance increase, PlayStation Portable games will now run perfectly nearly across the board.
