About this deal

Overall: -4/5 And that small minus only because for something so well known and popular I expected a bit of different and less generic smell.

This one will make your eyes water, so if a girl doesn't like you, this cologne won't win her affection. To give this fragrance the most ELEGANT, SOFT AND DESIRABLE aroma , the notes of lavender, jasmine as well as sandalwood complete this fragrance making it absolutely AMAZING. I had been lusting after a certain smell, the classic, like something my grandfather would have worn, and I have to say I experienced what I'm sure can only be compared to a junkie's high when I smelled it. I feel that I'm a bit to young for this fragrance(I'm 27), but maybe it's because of the memory of my grandfather. He hasn't strayed too far from classics like Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior or Monsieur from Givenchy. My olfactory memory from the 1990's was that of a great gentleman's cologne and I was genuinely scared if this scent should be either a watered down image of it's former self or simply being too old-school and that my tastes may have changed over the years.

I find this to be the case with Guerlain's famous Vetiver, for example, where the initial lemon has a strange and slightly dirty smell, perhaps due to the tobacco flower in the bass. I do not compare this frag to Chanel pour monsieur, Monsieur de Givenchy or Aqua di Parma, which are more lemony in my opinion. I’ve been looking for a replacement signature nothing comes even close, no TF no Creed can scale these highs. At the heart there are elegant jasmine and lavender, accompanied by spices: nut, coriander, cinnamon and clove. In fact, of all the fragrances I have in my collection; some 150+, it’s the only one my wife (not the aforementioned girlfriend) ever comments on still, after 25 years. The Vintage had a very cool, sleek, classic, citrus and Lavender opening supported by a dry Oakmoss and high quality synthetic Sandalwood.

I've gotten many compliments from women when I wear it, and I'm sure it will be a staple with me for years to come. I recently acquired a bottle a couple of months ago (I did have an original bottle back in the 80's that got lost the. Unmistakably an Italian citrus but the way those citrus top notes blend with the oakmoss is just the most amazing work of fragrance alchemy. There's nothing to "earn" here, as some of the older guys have suggested, unless you like the smell of Brylcreem. Not loud as many other powerhouses from the 1980's, but very refined and can be worn casually as well as dressed up. It opens strong but generic, citrus and cool spices, and it dries down to something I consider way too flowery, kind of like hair grease. I you would meet the person that you are interested in and would make a decent approach over a very expensive dinner, I think that you should try this. As it develops, the heart notes of jasmine, nutmeg, and carnation add a touch of warmth and sensuality, creating a seductive aura that cannot go unnoticed.

Not knowing anything about fragrances I assumed it would always be available for me to purchase, only to find out years later the original formula would change. The scent can be worn dressed up or down and would make a great office scent as well as a great vacation scent (i. The original had a similar spice but from memory came out more clove like to me and made it smell a bit too old for me at the time whilst I didn't detect this in this current reformulation. It also contains a mineral, grayish-green watery plant note which, to me, foreshadows the cucumber portion of the "cucumber melon" shampoos, lotions, etc. The last time I tried this was in 2012 and it was the previous formulation and I was very disappointed as I love the original 1984 version.

I think of a man walking down the cloudy streets of France or Italy wearing a simple fall coat and maybe smoking a cigarette.
