About this deal

The Olympus Binoculars 10×50 work equally well even if you need to wear glasses as it has an eye relief distance (distance between the eyes and eyecup) of 2 m. The focus bar is nicely long but very low profile; indeed, on first acquaintance you might not realise it's a focus bar at all, with a friction surface similar to 'Velcro', instead of grooves/ribs. In regards to getting to know the sky, I think you're starting on the right foot, with the 10x50 plus star charts. I prefer them to the Celestron’s for long distance daytime use such as plane and boat spotting; and I was genuinely surprised just how far into the distance you can see - from an elevated position I was able to locate wind turbines that I know to be around 35 miles away! Olympus 10×50 Dpsi Binoculars have a special monolayer coating on the inside of the barrels, which blocks the glare from UV rays of the sun to give you clear images. Please note that the Nikon Action EX and the Nikon Action are different binos - I am only recommending the EX version.

Just start off by, naturally, matching what you see on the printed page to whatever is clearly on the sky, by recognising the most conspicuous constellations first (which IMO, on early evening at the moment would be Ursa Minor, Cassiopeia and its "W" shape, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Corona Borealis, to name a few) along with essy-to-spot bright stars, such as Arcturus, in Bootes, Vega in Lyra and Altair in Aquila, Polaris.
