About this deal

At 21mm in diameter, these have pretty large ocular lenses for a mid-sized binocular in my experience. Swarovski has long provided a generous maintenance programme, and it routinely replaces parts that are considered to be out of specification at no cost the right hand slightly forward of a central hold, so that I can comfortably focus with my middle finger, and with my ring and little fingers on the objective housing

OVER 60 YEARS OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

I own a small LZOZ 4x36 made probably in the early 90´s. Optical quality is remarkable, construction is simple but very solid. amazing instrument for wide field views and big exit pupil. I have tried also the BPO which i think are still in production and its sharpness is among the best. the long extendable metal eyecups and reticle are a distinctive feature from its military origin.

You've got a nice collection of old roofs and a few old porros. Don't you find that the porros are noticeably sharper than your old roofs without phase coatings? As they are less complicated and thus easier and probably also cheaper to make than twist-up eye-cups, this type of eyecup is often found on cheap binoculars, and as such these low-quality cups (often with very little eye-relief) tend to offer a poor user experience. I am expecting the newer (but still maybe 12-15 years old?) Zeiss 8x30B/GAT*P to beat the older Dialyt in controling flare and ghosting, so it'll probably get a lot of use for me. Possibly the longer objective tubes of this old girl create more oportunity for flare and ghosts to appear? And for much general viewing I find it preferable - especially in the harsh white light of an Australian summerThis involved replacing all the glass and associated parts, see post #11: https://www.birdforum.net/showpost.php?p=3824199&postcount=6 However, not multi-coating the telescopic sights that were primarily for the European market was harder to put into such a context)

Yet the "Heritage plus" russian levenhuk are touting "ruby coated" on the objectives It might actually be good, just that all the lower end stuff has the same coating and it's not so good.....hmmm As with the exterior armor, Steiner has obviously put a lot of thought into the materials used for the chassis: Instead of magnesium that many higher-end instruments will nowadays use, Steiner actually uses a polycarbonate Makrolon housing. lets you focus each eyepiece to your vision once, then keeps images razor sharp from 20 yards to infinity. No more chasing focus on moving objects. The 2 models differed in eyepiece construction, and the longer eye relief 7x30 can be visually recognised by its larger diameter eye lens Designed specifically with marine uses in mind and with a whole host of interesting features and components, sure on paper, these Steiner Navigator Pro 7x30 binoculars do look like they could pretty much be the ultimate binocular to have on just about any smaller vessel on the water, be that a speed boat, yacht, kayak or canoe and indeed they also seem like they could also more than hold their own for many dryland uses as well. So good on paper, but just how well do they fare in reality under real-world testing and use, well in this review we find out:I believe under those full sun conditions I will be able to separate the two in a much more meaningful way,.....but that will have to wait for now. However, at least at one time Swarovski offered the option of upgrading a pre-Swarobright 7x30 to make it a Swarobright 8x30
