About this deal

Have a garden with herbs or vegetables? Use them in your cooking on a daily basis. If you don’t have a garden, choose spices from your kitchen cabinet for specific purposes. For example – cinnamon for money. Sugar to sweeten up situations and people. Rosemary for love. Etc. 25. Pray to the Ancestors

Like most religions, Pagans place certain meanings to different plants and flowers. But they also might hold certain magical significance. It’s common for flowers and plants to be chosen that have protective qualities, or that are associated with peace. If you are unable to recite prayers (or simply don’t want to do so in a public space), then you can simply hold the beads in your hands and move them around. Holding the beads in your hands helps focus your mind, and moving the beads around allows you to visualize the prayers without speaking them aloud. Why do rosaries have protective power With all things Viking suddenly being very much in vogue, thanks to Hollywood movies and Netflix series, it should be no surprise that Norse paganism is also growing in popularity. I guess one needs to have a belief that the prayers have an ear, so to speak. Sometimes it's enough to just voice concerns in an open space but others one needs to feel like the information is being processed and you're empathized with. This book didn't do that but it didn't set out to do that. It was my secret hope. I am obviously happy with this. I believe that it will lead to a deepening not only of our relationships with the sacred beings, but also of our awareness of the sacred in the world we live in. A person who immerses themselves in prayer is immersing themselves in the sacred. This can only be to our benefit. The biggest benefit of using prayer beads as a pagan is the way they center your life around a regular devotional practice.

Cremation is a popular choice, particularly for Druids and Heathens, but crematoriums contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and aren’t necessarily the best for the environment. However, since 2010 it has been legal to hold open air cremations with old-style funeral pyres. If you are invited to an open air cremation, you should be prepared that while it is an emotional and powerful process, it is one that many find distressing to witness. Natural burial Pagan music tends to fall into the categories of New Age or Folk, and a lot of pagans will have favourites among these. But you might also come across live music at a funeral. It’s not uncommon to have drummers, flautists or acapella singers at a pagan celebration of life. Pagan funeral locations You don’t have to meditate for an hour or even a half an hour. 5. Connect with your ancestors

I hope this book is only the first in a long line of books of Pagan prayers, by one author or anthologies, that will come out of our religion as it grows. Prayer is a subject that can never be exhausted. It is a sacred conversation between us and the gods. As long as there have been people, they have conversed with each other and, still, they find things to talk about. Why should we expect sacred conversation to be any different? When praying to the spirits, it’s important to focus on your intentions. Rosaries are most often used to ask them to bless you and guide you in your life journey more than asking for material gain. I read this for one purpose only: to understand why folks pray. I've only known the grovelling prayers of the head-covered, trembling, fearful disciples of [fill in oppressive deity here]. What are these Pagans praying for? Aren't they supposed to be equal to gods and goddesses? The second exception is one where there seems to be no recipient at all. These prayers come across as simple poems that express a situation. But even here there is a recipient. The situation itself is sacred and may be seen as receiving the prayer. Or the recipients may be all those who hear the prayer, even if it is only a single person. And it is not the ordinary people, but the part of them that is identified as sacred. By treating the person as sacred, they are raised to a status of a numinous being who may appropriately receive prayer. As the annual wheel turns, Wiccans honor earth’s cycles with rituals, spells, and prayers. We do this to bring ourselves into closer harmony with nature and the universe. As time’s wheel also marches forward, this harmony becomes increasingly important. We cannot lose sight of the Earth Mother and her needs in serving our own, now or in the future.

Other common themes across the Pagan spectrum include a high reverence for the ancestors, a focus on a Goddess, the shunning of traditional religious dogma and avoidance of proselytism. Denmark was the first country to "become" Christian, with Viking king Harald Bluetooth converting in approx. 975 CE. Yet it would take over another century to establish an archdiocese there in 1104 CE, whilst Norway (1154 CE) and Sweden (1164 CE) would take even longer. These seasonal prayers somewhat short, anticipating that most Wiccans, Witches, and Pagans will want to add them to rituals, spells, and other observances, or extend them through personalization. Pagan Prayer for the Season of SpringWe’ve already established that Pagan funeral customs differ enormously from tradition to tradition, but you’d be surprised at how similar funeral rites are across the board.
